Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer is a condition where abnormal cells grow inside the tissues of the bladder — the organ that stores urine. It is more common in older adults and is often detected early because of symptoms like blood in the urine.

Common Symptoms

  • Blood in urine (red or cola-colored)
  • Frequent urination
  • Pain or burning while urinating
  • Lower back or pelvic pain

Causes & Risk Factors

  • Smoking (major cause)
  • Long-term chemical exposure
  • Chronic bladder inflammation
  • Family history

Treatment Options

  • Transurethral Resection (TURBT)
  • Intravesical therapy (BCG or chemotherapy)
  • Partial or total cystectomy (bladder removal)
  • Immunotherapy or targeted therapy
